The Jersey Stakes

The fourth Earl of Jersey surely has a unique legacy. As a man who was known for his fondness for Buckhounds his fondness for animals has been cemented in history as a fantastic horserace has been named after his exploits. This race is, of course, the Jersey Stakes and it is held every year at the Royal Ascot in June. The race first took place in 1919 and was part of the Triennial Stakes. Entry into the race is limited to those horses which have not yet won a Group 1 or Group 2 race. This makes the Jersey Stakes an excellent qualifying run that is highly anticipated by horse racing aficionados all over the world. The race is quit exciting and sets the stage for future races. What is not to enjoy about such an event?
